Tractors from across mid Wales and the West Midlands gathered for this year's Llanidloes Tractor Run.

The popular event saw more than £1,100 raised for the Alzheimer's Society with participants from Shropshire, Herefordshire, Ceredigion and Powys.

Organisers, the Baker family, thanked everyone who supported and helped in any way to make the event a great success.

"Massive thank you to all that turned up, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did organising," Lynne Baker said. "Without your attendance events like these would not happen."

John Baker led the tractors in his Ford 2000 from Llanidloes Rugby Club on a tour around the beautiful countryside surrounding the Llanidloes area on Sunday (September 12).

The vehicles chugged along to Cwm Belan and the Afon Dulas valley to arrive at Hendreaur, crossing the Nant Cae Garw valley before zigzagging to Green Wood and Cefn Llech. The convoy passed the standing stone and meandered to Tan Yr Rallt where the tractors went off-road to climb the forestry track to Cefn Cenarth Hill where they paused to take in the panoramic view of Pantydwr parish. Tractors of all types ans sizes then descended to Nantgwyn taking the road to Pantydwr and around the Waun to Llidiartywaun.

Drivers pulled into John and Mark Baker’s yard for a half-way pitstop of homemade cakes, savouries and beverages before setting off on the last leg of the charity tractor run through Llidiartywaun, New Chapel and Dolwen. After crossing the River Severn to Oakley Park, the convoy returned to Llanidloes Rugby Club for further refreshments provided by Elaine Jones and her team.

Lynne added: "Massive thank you to Llanidloes RFC for the use of the rugby club grounds and to Elaine Jones and team for the catering. Thank you, all marshals that helped traffic managing."

Next year's event will be held to raise money for Sepsis UK.
