BUILTH Wells proved too strong for Bishop's Castle in a 3-0 win at the Manor in MMP-NL Mid Wales League East.

Greg Preece opened the scoring before second-half strikes from Sean Powell and Aeron Powell sealed a comfortable win for the Bulls.

Meanwhile Brecon Corries proved a class apart in a 10-1 drubbing of Newtown Wanderers.

Joel Evans led the rout with a four goal haul while Luis Price and Craig Evans added doubled and goals from Tristan Dillon and Daniel Philpott completed the scoring with the hosts replying through Ciaran Wheeldon.

Waterloo Rovers also hit the goal trail in an 8-2 thumping of Churchstoke in the first round of the league cup.

Tom Ellis starred with four goals and Jake Mantell struck twice while Ryan Ellis and Luke Evans also netted for the Welshpool hosts with the villagers hitting back through Greg Pryce and Jamie Oakley.

Elsewhere Dewi Hughes was the match winner as Abermule battled to a 2-1 win at home to Llansantffraid.

Rhys Stephens gave Mule the lead only for Ryan Broadbent to level for the Saints with Hughes grabbing the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Tywyn Bryncrug overcame Tregaron Turfs 3-1 on penalties after the sides scrapped out a 2-2 draw.

Jac Hockenhull netted twice for the Turfs only for Aled Jones to reply with his own double for Tywyn and completed his man of the match display with the decisive spot kick.

Meanwhile Llanymynech survived a Corris United fightback to celebrate a 3-2 win in the first round of the Emrys Morgan Cup.

Dean Becker netted twice while Daniel Griffiths also struck to give the border side the lead before Dion Kohler netted twice after the break for the Quarrymen.

Becker missed a late penalty but it did not matter as Llanymynech booked their place in the next round.

Ben Pullen netted twice as Trefonen proved too strong for Newcastle with goals from Matthew Evans, Liam Jones and Bradley Bennett completing a 5-1 win while Richard Jones bagged a consolation.

Elsewhere St Harmon edged a 3-2 win at Penybont after the Swifts completed a thrilling fightback.

A Ryan Lawrence own goal gave the Swifts the lead only for Penybont to hit back through Scott Davies and Reiss Kinch but St Harmon were not to be denied as Jeffrey Jones netted twice to seal his side's progress.

Dan Stevens saw red late on for the Polecats to end their comeback hopes.

Elsewhere Talgarth Town opened their Watson Financial Mid Wales League South campaign with a 4-3 win at home to Presteigne St Andrews.
