More than 100 vehicles took part in a charity tractor run in memory of a “sorely missed” Banwy Valley farmer.

Richard Tudor was an award-winning farmer who died in a tragic accident at his family farm near Llanerfyl in April last year.

The father-of-two was 45 years old.

A huge turnout from the farming community descended on Llysun Farm on Sunday, September 5, to pay tribute to the highly respected farmer.

The event, organised with the help of CFfI Dyffryn Banw Young Farmers’ Club members, raised more than £3,200 which will be shared between the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Wales Air Ambulance charity.

Mr Tudor’s widow Catrin described the event as a “special day” and thanked everybody who took part and showed support.

“What an amazing day! Diolch i bawb! So grateful for the amazing support! We are all truly humbled!” she said.

One participating farmer said: “The number of folks there showed the high regard Richard was held in by all who were lucky enough to cross paths with him.”

Cylch Meithrin Dyffryn Banw also paid tribute to their “sorely missed loyal friend” and said that it was “great to see an amazing turnout”.

A variety of tractors and agricultural vehicles set off from Llysun Farm and meandered along country lanes around the Banwy Valley on Sunday morning.

Organiser Huw Evans thanked everyone for showing up and supporting the event. “Everybody has been very generous,” he said.

Mr Tudor was a well-known figure in the agricultural industry and his death last year shocked the community with tributes paid from around the world.

He was named Farmers Weekly Beef Farmer of the Year in 2016, and he was a Hybu Cig Cymru board member and Nuffield scholar.

He died in a tractor accident in Llechwedd Isaf field at the 700-acre Llysun Farm, which he co-owned with his parents, on April 3, 2020.
