ABERMULE maintained their bright start to the MMP-NL Mid Wales League East season with a 2-1 win at home to Llanfyllin Town on Friday night.

Liam Pickstock gave Llanfyllin the lead on the hour but Mule hit back for the points with goals from Stuart Emberton and Ryan Evans.

Meanwhile Bishop's Castle Town proved too strong for Montgomery Town in a 5-1 win at the Manor.

Joshua Collins, George Mellor, Jack Mellor, George Ellis and a Sam Davies own goal gave Castle the points while Monty replied through Oliver Beddoes while ending with 10 men following the dismissal of Alec Jones.

Elsewhere honours ended even as Newtown Wanderers and Forden United scrapped out a 3-3 draw.

United raced ahead with Jake O'Donnell and Alex Morgan on target before the hosts hit back through Robbie Hartshorn and Thomas Roberts.

Hartshorn's second gave Wanderers the lead only for O'Donnell to rescue a point for the villagers with a late penalty.

Builth Wells hit nine without reply in an emphatic victory at Churchstoke.

Greg Preece led the rout with five goals with Bradley Rollinson, Ciaran Price, Adam Farmer and Richie Powell completing the tally.

Meanwhile a solitary strike from Cullen Rodgers earned Tywyn Bryncrug a 1-0 win at Aberaeron in MMP-NL Mid Wales League West.

Barmouth and Dyffryn United also celebrated a 4-1 win at Tregaron Turfs with goals from Robert Griffith, Ceri Roberts, John Sutherns and William Jones cancelling a reply from Daniel Owen.

THE Watson Financial Mid Wales League South opened with a goalless draw as Presteigne and Llanandras shared a goalless stalemate on Friday night.

Brecon opened their campaign on a high with Christopher Davies netting twice before being sent off in a 5-0 win over Felindre with Kyron Dillon, Nathan Collacott and Tomos Morgan also on target for the Stags.

Elsewhere Penybont United toasted a 3-0 derby win at Builth Wells Reserves and a Jeffrey Jones double proved the difference as St Harmon celebrated a 2-0 win at home to Knighton Town Reserves.

Bernie Jones Memorial Trophy

TREWERN began their season on a high with a 3-1 win at Llangedwyn in the Bernie Jones Memorial Trophy.

Chris Lewis led the Tigers with a double while Stuart Buckley-Robins also struck while William Needham replied for the hosts.

Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League

BORTH United opened their Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League campaign with a 3-2 win at Padarn United.

Goals from Daniel Bentham and Chris Carton proved in vain for the hosts as a Chris Wydle double and Clive Morgan strike won the spoils for the Magpies.

Llanilar also opened their season brightly with goals from Jamie Stuart, Sion Evans and Osian Simpson-Jones settling a 3-0 win at Bont.

Elsewhere Corris United opened their season with an entertaining 8-3 win at home to Tregaron Turfs Reserves.
