Iwan Jerman proved Carno's last action hero with a late winner as his side edged to a 3-2 win over Penycae in the first round of the Ardal Northern Cup.

Joe Morris gave the Greens an early lead only for the Wrexham side to reply through Zac Davies and Thomas Edwards.

Oliver Lewis levelled midway through the second-half before Jerman struck a late winner for Gary Jones' men.

Meanwhile Neil Mitchell struck twice as Caersws proved too strong for Welshpool Town in a 3-1 win on Friday night.

Luke Mumford completed the tally while the hosts reduced the arrears through Ricky Litchfield.

Meanwhile Kerry celebrated a welcome win, prevailing 4-2 winners on penalties at Machynlleth.

The tie ended even after Tai Jones' strike for the Lambs was cancelled out by Phil Jones for the hosts but it was the villagers who held their nerve in the resulting shoot out.

Four Crosses bowed out of the cup following a 6-1 defeat at home to Rhos Aelwyd with a James Haynes hat-trick and goals from James Rumsey, Tom Smith and Ed Neale completing the scoring.

Meanwhile a late strike from David Edwards sealed Dolgellau's place in the next round with a 2-1 over Bow Street on Sunday.

Edwards opened the scoring for the Wasps before Llyr Davies levelled for Street but the home side were not to be denied as Edwards completed his double late on.

Meanwhile Llandrindod Wells made light work of bottom of the table Chepstow Town in the Ardal South East League.

Robbie Nicholls, Ashley Jones and Elliot Williams goals gave the Spamen a comfortable lead before Jack Evans and Tom Durant struck and Jake Lowe reduced the arrears as Llandrindod toasted a 5-1 win.

Elsewhere Rhayader Town's testing start to life in their new surroundings continued in a 2-1 defeat at Abertillery Bluebirds.

Leigh Sharp opened the scoring for the hosts midway through the second-half before Ryan Addison levelled from the penalty spot for the Red Kites.

Brett Morgan saw red for the hosts before James Watkins struck to restore their lead which the Bluebirds maintained despite ending with nine men after Richard Crees was dismissed.
