A Welshpool music venue has been forced to close this weekend(September 4) to carry out essential building repairs.
A statement from the 1898 group, which runs the 1898 venue in the former Conservative club on Welshpool High Street, says repairs to the building have forced them to shut, with this weekend's planned events cancelled.
The venue opened for the first time last month after an extensive refurbishment to the building, which had been out of use for several years.
"Unfortunately the repairs to our venue are more extensive than we originally thought," read the statement.
"Due to this, we will have to close to get our fabulous grade II listed building back in action."
"Our team are working endlessly to get this resolved. Watch this space, we will be back with a bang ASAP!"
The group says refunds and rearranged dates for the Small fakers and Echo Gecco event will be available through ticket partner Skiddle.
