Cefn Druids 0

NEWTOWN proved a class apart in an emphatic victory over Cefn Druids on Tuesday night.

The points were in the bag by half-time with Lifumpa Mwandwe proving a thorn in the side of the Druids.

The ex-Shrewsbury Town youngster seized upon a loose pass from Pavel Viera to break forward and slot past goalkeeper Mike Jones after 11 minutes.

Five minutes later ex-Druid Naim Arsan's cross from the left wing was met on the near post by Mwandwe who headed home from close range.

Newtown added a third after half an hour with Aaron Williams cutting a low cross from the right for another ex-Druid, James Davies, to steer past Jones.

Druids chances were sparse with the home defence largely untested for the remainder of the first-half.

Newtown should have added to their tally just before the break with Williams squaring for Craig Williams who scuffed wide from six yards as the Druids survived.

Both sides made a string of changes after the break but it was Newtown who added to their tally and ensured no way back for the visitors with 15 minutes remaining with Kieran Mills-Evans heading home David Cotterall's corner.

Newtown put the seal on a comprehensive victory with three minutes remaining with Mwandwe turning creator for Aaron Williams to complete his double and maintain his remarkable record of scoring in each league game this season.
