MOVERS and shakers in and around Llandrindod Wells can start limbering up again for a dazzling autumn of dance opportunities.

Impelo have announced their dance programme for Llandrindod this autumn – their first proper term of classes since the pandemic began.

“We are thrilled to be putting this programme together,” said Impelo’s programme co-ordinator Jemma Thomas.

“After another unpredictable couple of terms, we’re ready to help people find their tribe, find their vibe and find their stride. September brings the window of opportunity that we’ve been waiting to fling open for so long, and we think we have something to get almost everyone together dancing again.”

After a successful summer of workshops for children and young people as part of the HAF scheme, the dance centre on Arlais Road in Llandrindod looks set to keep its doors open with a range of regular classes from tiny tots to golden oldies this September.

The popular ‘Big Fish Little Fish’ sessions for under fours and their grown-ups are back on Wednesdays from 9.45-10.45am with Jemma. ‘Little Fish’ is a new session for three-four-year-olds and will be on Tuesdays between 4-4.30pm with Clara. As well as regular classes for five-sevens (‘Spark’) and eight-11s (‘Energise’), the Impelo team are hoping to put on a monthly special depending on styles local dancers would like to try. From musical theatre to hip hop, get in touch if you have any suggestions for future classes.

Any adults looking to find their mojo can enjoy a choice of ballet, tap or dance for those over 55 (‘Do Your Thing’) with Carolyn, and adults with learning disabilities can continue to dance online with Helly (‘Me, Myself and Us’).

“I’m so proud of our dynamic team of freelance dance practitioners who’ve been running an amazing range of workshops in the dance centre this summer,” said artistic director Amanda Griffkin.

“It’s been ace to see so many happy faces and hear music filling the studio again; we’re definitely heading onwards and upwards.”

Impelo are offering people the chance to try out one of their sessions before committing, so all adult classes are free in the week beginning September 6 (when classes resume) and all children's and youth classes are free in the week beginning September 13. The booking system goes live on September 1 and you must book your free session in advance as numbers are limited.
