Newbridge hosted its traditional trotting meeting last weekend.

The Cilmery track once again hosted the long-established and popular trotting meeting

The afternoon began with a mixed race of novice horses with the impressive Novice Half Penny with Lynne Boxhall on board securing a significant victory for long time supports Ken and Nora Lloyd from New Radnor.

The Grade B heats were the next on the card in the first heat Evenwood Thumps Up this week partnered by Andrew Hardwick for owner/trainer Steve Lewis from Llanbister swept into the lead and they dictated the race claiming a substantial victory.

The Grade A is always one of the highlights and newcomer Easy Company and his young trainer, driver Elin Bevan, the youngest of the Bevan family from Llanddewi to take up the driving reins, stormed to victory.

The Nursery race provided a memorable day for Ceiron Lisa and owner Fran Morgan from Knighton with Afan Alert (Jenkins, Nebo) while the Baby Novice race was won by Ellavafella, driven by Andrew Bevan from Maesmynis.

In the Dash it was the back marker Second Affair (Perks, Presteigne) driven by Oliver Jones who proved to have the most stamina.

The final race of the day was the Grade B Final which proved to be a classic run from the backmarker Dernol Yankee, owned by Edward Wozencraft and driven by his trainer Andrew Hardwick from Brecon.

Next week Llanddewi Brefi will play host to the racing on Saturday, August 28 starting at 1.30pm.
