A nightclub in Newtown is appealing to a group of men to pay up after allegedly causing damage at the venue.

The Steam Mill, Broad Street said they have CCTV of the "very disruptive" incident which happened on Saturday, August 14.

"We would like to make it clear that we will be taking the video evidence to the police unless those responsible are willing to come forward and pay for the damage caused," a spokesperson for the venue said.

"We’d like to apologise to anyone who was affected by this group’s behaviour and to any nearby residents who were unnecessarily disturbed by the actions of the males involved.

"Whilst we are not responsible for the actions of individuals we are frustrated when these actions disrupt and impact the wider community."

The Steam Mill reopened in early August for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in spring 2020. The town centre venue said it will improve security following last weekend's incident.

"The challenges we face as a nightclub business in 2021 are steep and we will deal promptly with anybody whose actions disrupt us from doing our best to allow Newtown to have a successful nightclub and somewhere everyone can enjoy themselves safely on a night out," the nightclub added.

"Our aim is to provide Newtown with an inclusive, exciting and dynamic nightclub. We’d like everyone to be able to enjoy themselves and party safely and we won’t tolerate any behaviour that conflicts with this.

"We reserve the right to lifetime ban, place on the B.O.B.B. [Behave Or Be Banned] list and seek to prosecute any incident that puts our staff’s safety at risk or causes damage to our property."
