RHAYADER teenager Owen Thomas is the new WBA Junior Welsh champion.
The 16-year-old stormed to victory in the final fight at Ebbw Vale Boxing Club to bring the title back to mid Wales.
Owen is coached by dad Martin at Nick's Gym and Boxing Club which has a number of emerging talents among its ranks.
The club also boasts a two nights a week ladies boxing club.
Owen began his career as a 12-year-old and has contested seven fights so far with more lined up.
He is sponsored by Nicks Gym and B2R - Luke R Davies and is on the lookout for more local sponsors.
