GREEN Man is thrilled to announce that Teddy Hunter is their Green Man Rising winner for 2021 and will bag a slot on the main Mountain Stage this August.

The Cardiff native beat off competition from 3,000 other hopefuls and from over 30,000 votes to claim the annual award after she was announced as the judges favourite at a virtual ceremony held on Thursday night, July 29th.

The audio-visual artist’s personal brand of instrumental and synthesized sounds won over a panel of industry experts, including Shannon Kurlander of Terrorbird Media, Tash Cutts of Hoof Music Management, Candy Artists, Sophie Roberts from United Talent Agency and Green Man director Ben Coleman.

Following a rise to prominence on the local scene, Teddy is now set to claim her place on the biggest stage at Wales’ largest music festival alongside the likes of art rockers Django Django, award winning musician Thundercat, fellow Welsh artist Gruff Rhys and many more.

Green Man Festival is taking place at Glanusk Park, just outside Crickhowell, at the foot of the Brecon Beacons, from August 19-22

“I’m so overwhelmed right now, absolute dream come true to play on the Mountain Stage at Green Man,” said Teddy on her Twitter account.

“Thank you SO much @GreenManFest, the judges and to everyone that voted. It’s been a hell of a year and I can’t express enough how much this means to me. Green Man has a very special place in my heart and it’s an absolute honour to get this far.”

Delighted to be announcing this year’s Green Man Rising winner, managing director and festival owner Fiona Stewart said: “I want to thank all the artists and the judges who took part in Green Man Rising.

“The judges all agreed that the standard of all the finalists was so incredibly high this year, and I’m so pleased that Cardiff’s very own Teddy Hunter is our winner. It's not fair to have favourites but of course we were pleased when the judges chose a Welsh winner.

“She’ll make a spectacular addition to our line-up, and the Black Mountains are the perfect backdrop for her talent.”

The Green Man Rising competition, now in its 13th year, celebrates the best emerging talent every year. Each entry is listened to by the Green Man team before a long list is put out to public vote in order to find the final five, which this year attracted more than 30,000 votes.

Green Man announced that it will be going ahead this year earlier this month, returning after an enforced year off to the epic surroundings of the Black Mountains for its 19th edition.

Other Welsh acts confirmed for the 2021 event include Charlotte Church, Gwenno and Catrin Finch, Kelly Lee Owens, Cardiff collective Melin Melyn, Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard, Duski, Hen Ogledd, Iwan Rheon, Panic Shack and others.

Green Man Rising 2020 winner Nuha Ruby Ra will also be making a return appearance, as will The Surfing Magazines, Boy Azooga and many more.

Tickets for Green Man 2021 have already sold out, including the ‘Settler’s Pass’, which turns the festival into a week-long holiday, allowing early access to the site from August 16, and including workshops, music, discounts on local heritage sites, galleries, castles and more.

Anyone over the age of 16 attending the festival site this year will also have to demonstrate they have received a negative NHS lateral flow test within 48 hours prior to their arrival, or demonstrate that they have received two vaccinations at least 14 days prior.
