A public toilet facility in Llanidloes has partially closed after it was targeted by vandals.

The men's toilets at the Gro car park has been shut since Sunday, July 25, after the door was kicked down and the hand sanitiser and soap dispensers were broken.

Llanidloes Community Services Committee, which is responsible for the toilets, has reported the incident to Dyfed-Powys Police.

Rhys Sheppard, who maintains the toilets on behalf of the committee, said he found it damaged when he went to inspect the area on Sunday evening.

He said: "These public conveniences are run by a volunteering committee and the hard work they put in to run the public conveniences is a challenging task, especially when we are faced with vandalism, as we have to lock up the facilities every time to carry out repairs and maintenance.

"We depend on the 20p system to run the public conveniences as we have no other income. We cannot keep having the public conveniences vandalised because we will have no other option but to close them down."

The committee has decided to close the men's toilets while they arrange for repair work to be carried out. An opening date has yet to be announced.

The women's and disabled toilet facilities remain open at the car park.
