A man who was reported missing for three days has been found, Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed.

Police officers had asked the public to be on the lookout for a missing man, named only as "Timothy", whose vehicle was found near Llanidloes.

The river and woodland search for the "high-risk" missing person also involved a police helicopter, an urban search and rescue team, mountain rescue teams from Aberdyfi and Brecon and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews.

Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue said the man was found "alive and physically well".

In a statement, the team said: "Towards the end of a full day of searching, a Fire and Rescue service team detected the heat-source of a recent camp-fire, and some astute piecing together of information and evidence led the operation-control to conclude that this was associated with the missing man.

"Search parties, including volunteers from Aberdyfi, were quickly moved into the area, and the man was located alive and physically well shortly afterwards."

Dyfed-Powys Police said in the early hours of Thursday morning that the search was successful.

The force tweeted: "We're pleased to confirm that we've found Timothy.

"As always, thank you to everyone who supported us and helped with this appeal."
