A biker was killed in a crash on one of the main roads out of Powys on Wednesday, police have confirmed.

The A44 coastal road between Llangurig and Aberystwyth was closed near Goginan in Ceredigion for several hours after a crash on Wednesday afternoon.

Now Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that a motorbike rider was killed in the incident, after a crash which also involved an HGV.

In a statement, the force said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A44 between Capel Bangor and Goginan at approximately 3.15pm on Wednesday 21st July 2021.

"The vehicles involved were an orange Honda motorcycle and a blue Volvo HGV lorry. It is believed the motorcycle was travelling eastbound with two other motorcycles.

"Sadly the motorcycle rider passed away at the scene. Next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

"Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation or anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police."

Traffic Wales confirmed the route had fully reopened at 1am today (Thursday, July 22).
