ORGANISERS of a Mid Wales event that has grown hugely in popularity over the last decade have announced that the summer version will be going ahead.

The No Bull Just Beer and Bikes rally will be held over the August bank holiday weekend, from the 27-30.

The show, hosted by Penmaenau Events and held at the family’s Penmaenau farm in Llanelwedd, just outside Builth Wells, is now in its 13th year and has been growing in strength ever since the first event, which was held in 2009.

The show is held twice a year – the first one over the second bank holiday weekend in May, which had to be cancelled this year due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns.

But following First Minister Mark Drakeford’s announcement on Wednesday that Wales will take the first step towards “alert level zero” as restrictions relax further at the end of this week, show organisers were quick to respond.

Ann Morgan, of Penmaenau events, said on the No Bull Facebook page: “Following on from the Drakeford announcement today, No Bull will happen August 27-28-29-30, 2021.

“There are some details to work out. We will update re tickets etc and restrictions, if any, as soon as we can on Facebook and www.nobullbeerandbikes.co.uk.”

They also posted an ‘August Update’ on the website, with a statement reading: “Following on from announcements given by Welsh Government, the August No Bull Beer & Bikes event will be going ahead.

“We will update this page and social media regarding tickets and restrictions as soon as we can.

“Please bear with us whilst we work out the best way to handle the above.

“We would like to thank all our customers for your long-standing support and look forward to seeing you back soon. Watch this space.”

They also announced that they would be honouring non-refunded 2020 May tickets for August 2021.

Mr Drakeford on Wednesday set out a longer-term plan for the summer, which will see Wales will move fully into alert level one from July 17.

He confirmed that, from Saturday, Wales will move fully to alert level one, which means: up to six people can meet indoors in private homes and holiday accommodation and organised indoor events can take place for up to 1,000 seated and up to 200 standing.

The Welsh Government also set out plans for an “alert level zero” in an updated Coronavirus Control Plan. If the public health situation allows, Wales will move to this level on August 7.

Organisers of No Bull were determined to go ahead with the show in some shape or form in August, with Ann announcing in June: “Re: No Bull Just Beer and Bikes, we are definitely aiming to go ahead. Re people attending, we are waiting to see.”
