A weekly film event held in Llanfyllin has been cancelled due to low numbers, organisers say.

A statement from Ffilm Llanfyllin said that numbers were too low to justify continuing their summer film programme - with just one person turning up on one occasion.

However they say they will relaunch in September when hopefully more people will be able to return.

"Unfortunately due to low attendance we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the rest of this summer's film programme," they said.

"With weekly attendances being very low... it is not practical or cost effective to continue showing the films.

"We hope to re-launch in September and welcome you all back - we will keep in touch regarding the Autumn programme and any other developments."

Showing films at the Llanfyllin Institute every Sunday, Ffilm Llanfyllin is run by a small organising committee of volunteers as a part of Arts Connection – Cyswllt Celf.

Organisers had successfully re-opened following the relaxation of pandemic restrictions at the start of the summer, and they say they want to hear from former film goers who may now be staying away.

"It would be very helpful to know from an audience perspective what barriers are preventing people from attending," they said.

"For example we know Sunday nights are difficult for some people and Covid is still a worry for others. If you would like to share any thoughts please do email either llanfyllinfilm@gmail.com or sioned@artsconnection.org.uk

"A massive 'Thank You' to everyone who has attended and hope to see you back for more films in September," they added.
