A Newtown bar and restaurant will open again on Friday(July 9) after two staff members were ordered to self-isolate due to positive covid tests.

Earlier this week, the business decided to close as a precaution while staff members isolated and cleaning work was carried out

A statement from 23 Social, which opened on the former site of the town's Woolworths last month, said they were safe to open again as planned tomorrow following several days of precautionary deep cleaning carried out at the restaurant.

"Over the last 24 hours we have been contacted by track and trace stating 2 of our staff members out of the 10 isolating have tested positive for COVID," they said.

"We have since been in contact with Powys Environmental Health to explain our situation and the precautionary measures we have put in place.

"Today has seen the third day of our precautionary deep clean of all surfaces. Tomorrow and Friday morning will see the same routine carried out. At this stage we are advised that with all the measures we have in place we are safe to open again as planned on Friday. "

The statement said that they would provide a further update to customers on any changes to circumstances should they arise.

"We would like to thank our cleaning team for their extended efforts and dedication at this time. We look forward to welcoming you back," it added.
