NEWTOWN have signed teenage midfielder James Rowland ahead of their UEFA Conference clash at Dundalk on Thursday.

The 19 year-old joins the club from English Football League side Shrewsbury Town having enjoyed a loan spell at JD Cymru Premier rivals Aberystwyth Town last season.

Rowland came through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion before joining the Shrews and made his debut in 2018 and signed his first professional contract in 2019.

He also had a loan spell at Barwell in October 2020 and left Shrewsbury in May 2021 following the expiry of his contract before being snapped up by the Robins and scoring in a 5-0 friendly victory over Guilsfield on Wednesday evening.
