A 27-year-old father convicted of causing more than £1,000 worth of damage to public toilets in Newtown has earned praised from the court and probation service after his efforts to turn his life around.

Ryan Harmon appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 1, for his final review progress of his drug rehabilitation requirement that was part of a community order given in September last year for criminal damage at the Gravel car par toilets.

Magistrates from probation officer Julian Davies that Harmon had progressed “excellently all the way through” his rehabilitation and had done “exceptionally well”.

The court also heard that all of Harmon’s reviews had been “consistently good” and that he has not reoffended since his conviction.

Chair of magistrates’ bench Stephen Pembroke told Harmon, of High Street, Welshpool: “This is absolutely fabulous news. You have done a grand job. People can change their lives around. You have quite clearly done that. It’s such good news. It’s added a lot to you life.

“Keep up the good work and this will be behind you.”
