NEWTOWN Football Club chairman Howard Ellis has spoken of his pride after the club sealed a place in the UEFA Europa League Conference.

The Robins prevailed in a never-to-be-forgotten play-off final at Caernarfon Town as James Davies came off the bench to inspire a 5-3 victory.

Now the club can look forward to the UEFA Europa League Conference first qualifying round draw on June 15.

Mr Ellis said: "I would like to say how proud I am to be chairman of this great club.

"We have probably witnessed one of the best play-off finals.

"The players and management got the tactics right in what I call a rollercoaster match in which the Robins fought back twice to this exciting final."

Mr Ellis dedicated the club's success to their supporters - still locked out of Welsh Premier grounds due to ongoing Welsh Government restrictions and cause of growing consternation across Welsh football.

"I am so pleased for the supporters who have not been able to attend any games this season and especially our sponsors, due to the restrictions imposed by FAW to play behind closed doors.

"The club and townspeople are no doubt looking forward to the draw which once again puts this mid Wales town and the surrounding communities on the European football map."
