Newtown's thrilling victory over Caernarfon Town in the European play-off final is a "fantastic advertisement for the town", says newly-elected mayor Richard Williams.
Many in the town are hoping the team's success is the lift needed following a year of coronavirus restrictions.
Mayor Richard Williams congratulated the team after securing their place in the European league.
"This is a great achievement for manager Chris Hughes and all the players, and ends the season on an incredible high," he said.
"The Robins have proved that they are a fantastic advertisement for Newtown and we should be proud that our small town in mid Wales has qualified. Best of luck to the whole team."
The European Conference League draw will take place on June 15.
