Police say they will increase patrols in Welshpool after a primary school garden was vandalised.

Pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg y Trallwng returned to school on Friday morning to discover the raised beds had been broken.

The damage was caused overnight on Thursday (May 27), and similar damage was also caused the day before, police said.

Posting on social media, the school said: "Some very sad faces this morning. Our outdoor area has been ruined again. Please look after our school."

Welshpool Police tweeted: "We will increase patrols in the area but if you know anything about this mindless damage please contact us."

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "Overnight of May 27, 2021 damage has been caused to timbers surrounding a garden at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng.

"Similar damage was also caused the day before. Officers will increase patrols in the area."
