A NORTH Powys supermarket community champion has been recognised for her efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic with an award from the chairman of the county council.
Jennifer Coppell, community champion at Morrisons supermarket in Newtown, has received the Silver Kite Award from Councillor Gwynfor Thomas – chairman of Powys County Council – for her outstanding services to the community during the pandemic.
The award was given to Jennifer following her efforts to arrange food and support for the community during the pandemic.
She continually ensured food was available for food banks, charities, churches and other organisations.
Many competitions were also arranged by Ms Coppell to help keep up the spirits of those in the community during the dark months of lockdown and proceeds were donated to charity.
