A Pumpkin Festival is heading to Llanidloes this autumn to bring the community together.

Organisers have said there will be a parade, pumpkin carving, competitions, pumpkin smashing, pumpkin race, pumpkin cooking and recipes, music at the festival.

A spokesperson for the Hanging Garden project said: “To celebrate the launch of our new project, this autumn we are organising the first Pumpkin Festival in Llanidloes.

“We want this event to be open to all, for all, and organised by all. We welcome anyone who wants to share their pumpkin ideas, put them into action, and help us make Llanidloes the pumpkin capital for a weekend.

“But first, we need to start planting. If you already have seeds, now is the time. If you don’t, we can supply you with seeds. Get planting – now’s the time.”

The Hanging Garden project is transforming a derelict site in Bethel Street into an eco hub to “build community resilience, bringing together all sectors of the community to address current challenges”.
