'Forward thinking' Llanymynech Golf Club has achieved a SafeGolf club accreditation from England Golf.

SafeGolf is a partnership of UK golf bodies committed to promoting a safe and positive environment for all those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf.

Llanymynech Golf Club's aim is to create a welcoming environment for members and visitors while also creating a pathway to membership that supports players that are either new to golf or new to the club.

The club continues to develop an up-and-coming junior section with members playing regularly in club and county competitions.

Sian Whiteoak who helped to lead the club's push to SafeGolf, said: "Llanymynech is a great club, it's very friendly, welcoming and forward-thinking.

"This award helps us to spread that message and to tell people that children are safe and secure here and that we understand about beginner golfers."

The award was presented to Llanymynech Golf Club by Laura Yapp, England Golf's club support officer.

"I'm delighted that Llanymynech has achieved SafeGolf and that its efforts to grow the game can be nationally recognised," said Laura.
