A 36-year-old man has died in a two-vehicle collision on the Newtown bypass that involved a livestock lorry carrying sheep.

Police said the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

The lorry driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Both lanes on a section of the bypass between the Llanidloes Road roundabout and the Dolfor Road roundabout remain closed, with diversion signs in place.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the road is likely to remain closed overnight as officers continue with investigations.

Witnesses who saw the fatal collision which took place at around 6.30pm on Sunday (April 25), have been asked to get in touch with the police.
