A RADNORSHIRE resident has been fined after being caught throwing rubbish off a bridge and into the River Wye.

The culprit was caught throwing litter off Brynwern Bridge in Newbridge-on-Wye on Friday, April 23, with the act being labelled “completely unacceptable”.

The area, where the Wye meets the River Ithon, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Powys Recycles, the Twitter feed for Powys County Council’s waste and recycling service, said: “A Radnorshire resident has been sanctioned after being caught throwing litter into the River Wye off Brynwern Bridge in Newbridge-on-Wye.

“This is the confluence of the Rivers Ithon and Wye and is an SSSI. This is completely unacceptable behaviour.”
