TWO Powys beauty spots have been included in the top 10 best camping destinations in the UK.

The team at Cool Camping have analysed the Dark Sky Reserves and light pollution across the UK to discover the best places to pitch up and gaze at the night sky.

On Monday a Pink Supermoon will be visible from earth.

Under the right conditions, the moon can actually appear to have a pink hue, though it will be purely coincidental if this phenomenon occurs for April's pink supermoon.

Cool Camping have produced a list – The Pitch-Finders Guide to The Galaxy – to promote the 10 best areas in the UK to sleep beneath the stars and witness the Pink Supermoon.

Brecon Beacons National Park and Elan Valley near Rhayader both feature alongside Snowdonia as Wales features prominently in the dark skies list.

A spokesman for Cool Camping said: "With staycations on the rise and recent research reporting a 10 per cent reduction in UK levels of light pollution across the UK from this time last year, there has never been a better time to dig out your tent and binoculars."
