THE daughter of a well-known and popular character in Oswestry has paid tribute to her mother after her death last week.

Deborah Hill-Trevor, sister-in-law to Lady Susan Hill-Trevor, wife of Lord Charles Hill-Trevor and was married to his brother Nevill, gave her time to many charities and projects around Oswestry and Chirk.

Daughter Caroline Hill-Trevor says her mum lived a full life and hopes many will remember her well.

"Deborah, widow of Nevill and mother of Caroline and Diana died on April 10 after a long illness," said Caroline.

"Deborah was a very well-known character in Oswestry and the surrounding area.

"She was involved in the work of many local charities, including Severn Hospice, RNLI Oswestry branch, Oxfam shop, Clwyd Special Riding Centre and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

"She was an advisor at the Citizens Advice Bureau and a guide at Chirk Castle and mum was also a regular attender at Llansilin church where she was a warden and played a big part in the appeal to restore the bells there.

"Deborah was great country woman, horsewoman, sailor and Great British skier who loved reading, wildlife and travelling.

"You might even remember that Deborah appeared on Mastermind."
