THE Builth Wells Cancer Research branch has raised a superb £850 from taking part in a March challenge to walk 10,000 steps every day.

March was ‘Walk all over Cancer’ month, which was a challenge issued by Cancer Research UK to people who wished to support it. The challenge was to walk 10,000 steps every day to help raise funds for the charity during this difficult period of time.

Despite the very mixed weather during the 31 days of March, members of the Builth Wells Cancer Research local committee completed this undertaking, and as an offshoot from the challenge, staff from Builth Wells Primary school arrived at their own ‘Milltir Mawrth’ (a mile in March) adaptation, to support the charity by walking a mile each day to help raise funds for the Cancer Research campaign.

A joint total of over £850 was raised through sponsorship and donations. The idea was promoted because walking is good for mental health, lowers blood pressure, improves fitness and is free to enjoy. The branch is grateful to all who took part and helped this worthy cause.
