THE family of April Jones have paid tribute to her on what would have been her 14th birthday.

Five-year-old April was snatched from outside her home in Machynlleth, Powys, by Mark Bridger in October 2012.

April's body was never found but Bridger was sentenced to life for abduction and murder after a forensic examination of his rented cottage.

Today, Easter Sunday, her family paid tribute to April on Facebook. It would have been her 14th birthday.

The tribute reads: "3,107 days without you... Today it is your birthday, you should have been turning 14 years old and despite a pandemic and being locked down I’m sure you’d have had a lovely day. Instead you spent just 2,007 days on this Earth, you will be forever 5 years old with the cheekiest and purest smile.

"You’ll be remembered for your ability to ride a bike at such a young age, your love for animals and the outdoors.

"You’ll be remembered for your love for your mummy, daddy and siblings and how you ruled the roost and had a wee cheeky nature despite being loving and kind.

"We will think of you every time we see the colour pink and rainbows in the sky, we will think of you and remember you always.

"You will never be forgotten April.

"I hope you have a lovely day up in the clouds. At 14, I wonder what would you of thought about celebrating your Birthday on Easter Sunday?

"Happy Easter April."
