Tourist destinations around Powys have been mowing the lawns and polishing their reception desks in a wild rush to be ready to reopen at short notice tomorrow.

First Minister Mark Drakeford gave the green light late last night for holiday destinations to reopen to the public in an easing of lockdown measures, and a number of tourism businesses have today taken to social media to let the world know they are ready for relaunch.

The Elan Valley will be reopening tomorrow, giving people who live in Wales access to one of the country's most beautiful landscapes.

A post on Facebook read: "Our site is reopening from Saturday March 27 for visitors who live in Wales to enjoy our outdoor space.

"We will need the support of everyone to enable us to remain open safely, so please note: Our café is operating a takeaway-only, cash-only service. Car park will be open. Temporary toilets will be provided. Children’s playground will be closed."

A number of holiday parks and destinations have also posted online to tell the world they are reopening.

  • Dovey Valley Shooting Ground at Llanwrin, Machynlleth, posted: "We are OPEN with shooting allowed 09:30am - 16:00pm. Things have changed so much at Dovey Valley recently. We've some incredible new targets to show you all so we hope you'll make the visit."
  • Powys Libraries will begin to reopen during the course of next week.

Visitors to Y Gaer (Brecon), Builth, Hay, Ystradgynlais, Llandrindod, Newtown, Y Lanfa (Welshpool), Machynlleth, Llanfyllin, Llanidloes, Llanfair Caereinion, Rhayader and Knighton libraries will be allowed to browse and select books with an appointment or managed queues in place, where staffing levels and space allows, from Monday, March 29.

  • Welshpool Airport will also return to action, for travel between airfields in Wales, having been shut down during the "stay home" and "stay local" phases of the lockdown.

  • The Clywedog Caravan Park at Llanidloes was one of a number of caravan parks and holiday cottage operators to joyously announce their return to action on Friday.

Others included the Bryndu Caravan and Camping in the Brecon Beacons, Warren Parc near Machynlleth, Gellidywyll Caravan Park near Llandinam, Mill Farm Cottages at Knighton, and Rhayader based Lon Lodges Accommodation.
