NEW gazebos that will be installed in Machynlleth to allow businesses to open safely have arrived.

Machynlleth Town Council has bought six gazebos and sets of tables and chairs with Transforming Towns funding for enterprises in the town to borrow so that they can operate safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

The newly formed Enterprise Forum was consulted on the best ways of taking this opportunity to help businesses in the town.

“It was a great collective effort”, said councillor Ann MacGarry who pulled all the information together.

Lol Hennighan sparked the idea of a marquee, Llinos Griffiths who makes and sells soap as Dyfi Natural advised that a number of gazebos would be very useful and flexible for local craftspeople, Gail Jenkins of Caffi Alys said that they could be used on the lawn behind Canolfan Owain Glyndwr, stall keepers on the market advised on the best type to buy and staff of Powys County Council were extremely helpful, answering endless questions about the fund.

Llinos Griffiths said “These are going to be really useful for local craftspeople. They are a good size and nice and robust.”
