A consultation into proposals to introduce a new overtaking lane on the Llanidloes Bypass has been extended until the end of April.

The Welsh Government said the scheme is intended to improve safety and journeys in the area, however a campaign group led Hafren Terrace residents say the plans would increase traffic noise and pollution on either side of their homes.

A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “Plans are in the early stages and the views of local residents are very important, which is why we’re consulting before designs proceed and the full business case is made.

“This consultation has been extended until the end of April to account for current restrictions. We’ll listen to each comment and ensure any issues raised are carefully considered.”

The Welsh Government added that a consultation on the A470 Llanidloes scheme had been undertaken with Powys County Council in June 2020.
