WORK to replace a safety barrier on a stretch of the A470 between Rhayader and Newbridge-on-Wye will begin on Wednesday (March 17).

Traffic Wales announced that ‘The Holmes Safety Barrier Replacement’ project will begin tomorrow and last for six weeks. The Welsh Government’s traffic information service for motorways and trunk roads in Wales tweeted: “The road will remain open to traffic at all times for the duration of the works with a lane closure.”

This work is to construct a replacement safety barrier in the western verge of the A470, approximately 0.3Km north of the junction with the A4081, near to the property known as The Holmes. No diversion will be necessary, the southbound carriageway will remain open to allow traffic flow to continue during the work.
