CARRIE Jones made her first team debut for Manchester United on Sunday.

The Newtown raised teenager came off the bench to help the Red Devils complete a 3-0 win at home to Aston Villa in the Women's Super League.

The match was played at Leigh Sports Village.

The Welsh international came off the bench with two minutes remaining to replace Jessica Sigsworth as her side eased to a comfortable margin of victory.

Jones, a former Llanfair Caereinion and Newtown High School student, joined United from Cardiff City in the summer.

Proud mum Joyce said: "We are so proud of Carrie and all she continues to achieve.

"Her continued hard work and dedication and especially the move to live in Manchester at 17."
