THE family of the motorcyclist who died following a crash on Anglesey yesterday afternoon have paid tribute to him.

Garry Owen Roberts was 53-years-old and was local to the area.

His family have issued the following tribute to him:

“A son, father and grandfather, Garry Owen Roberts was a keen motorcyclist. He was originally from Bangor and went to Ysgol Glanadda and Ysgol Tryfan, however was living in Rhosybol on Anglesey.

“He leaves behind his parents, brother and sisters, children and two grandchildren.

“His daughter Kirsty, from Weston-super-Mare, said that he adored his two grandchildren and was never happier than when he was with them. The Covid restrictions meant that sadly he had not been able to see them as much as he wanted to.

“Since he was a youngster he had a fascination for motorbikes of all sorts and loved riding and tinkering with them. There was nothing he liked better than to discuss different bikes and how they performed.

“His happy go lucky and kind nature will be much missed.

“The family would like to thank the people and emergency services who tried to help Garry at the scene, and ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision which happened at the junction of the B5111 prior to Parys Mountain between Rhosybol and Amlwch at about 1.20pm yesterday afternoon and involved a white Mercedes Sprinter Box Van and a motorcycle.
