A NEWTOWN photographer has shared extraordinary footage of last year's floods to mark 12 months since the devastation swept the county.

Last year the region was badly impacted by heavy rain and storms which saw fields and roads submerged and, in the south of the county in particular, homes and bridges left underwater.

The River Severn burst its banks, causing widespread flooding around Llanidloes and Caersws, and now Daniel Boyington, a commercial operation drone licence holder, has shared his breathtaking footage of the incidents and warned the region's flood problems are likely to continue to worsen.

Daniel said: "Aside from photography I like to make lots videos, Bettws Banger Racing for example I film every year.

"With Covid setting in everything was slowing down, not much was happening other than the dramatic weather."

Daniel said he was no stranger to the annual floods of mid Wales but felt 2020 had been the worst in his lifetime.

He said: "I’ve seen flooding before but that flood was something else, I’ve never seen it so high on the Caersws bridge before.

"I basically wanted to put my drone skills together and film what our local area was going through for everyone at home to see.

"It’s quite surprising to see the extent of flooding until you’re in the air.

"The thing is though I think this is a test of what’s to come, I wouldn’t be surprised if flooding gets worse."
