NEW figures from Public Health Wales show where exactly while coronavirus is circulating within the Powys community.

The data – provided by health officials in response to Covid-19 – iss broken down beyond the standard local authority areas and shows how individual communities compare.

Newtown is among the areas to have seen an increase in cases in the most recent data, and had the highest rate of new cases.

Welshpool has seen its number of new cases decline after higher figures in recent weeks, but is still experiencing moderate numbers of positive Covid tests.

Some areas which had previously seen high numbers in the south of the county have seen their cases decline recently, and Llanidloes, which suffered a significant spike earlier in the year, has now had fewer than two cases in two consecutive weeks.

The data is gathered using Office of National Statistics figures of middle layer super output areas (MSOAs) and present the rolling number of cases in either a seven-day or 21-day window.

The details from Public Health Wales state that case numbers are suppressed for any MSOA where there were fewer than three identified cases.
