While many events are hitting the buffers as the coronavirus pandemic goes on, a major Powys music festival looks set to go ahead.

Organisers at the Green Man festival in the Brecon Beacons have today confirmed that they are pushign ahead with preparations for this summer's music event, which is due to take place in August.

A message on Twitter from the from the festival's official account read: "Wonderful news at last!

"Our inbox has been buzzing and we’re over the moon to say that, YES, the road to GM21 is looking a whole lot more positive.

"We’ll be following Wales’ route out of lockdown so the guidance might look somewhat different to England, but we’re planning away."

It was confirmed this week that some music festivals – including Reading and Leeds – will be pressing ahead this year with England setting out plans to exit lockdown over the next few months.

While Wales has yet to publish its own plans, the latest idnication is that Green Man will be going ahead.

Line ups are expected to be released soon for the event, which takes place near Crickhowell, and which is scheduled for August 19-22.

Previous acts to have featured at the indie-focused festival include Fleet Foxes, Teenage Fanclub, Mercury Prize nominees Idles, and Father John Misty.
