Police in Powys have issued an appeal for information after a war memorial was daubed with paint.

Local people expressed outrage after the incident in Llandrindod Wells over the weekend, and Dyfed-Powys Police have now asked people to come forward with information about the incident.

The war memorial, in Memorial Gardens, was daubed with red paint, and pictures showed that poppy wreaths had been knocked to the ground.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Sometime overnight between Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21, damage was caused to a statue at the Memorial Gardens in Llandrindod Wells.

"The statue was daubed with red.
