ROADS across south Powys have flooded alongside an amber weather warning for rain across much of Wales.

The A483 between Builth and Llanelwedd currently closed because of flooding of the River Wye.

A flood alert has been issued for much of Powys meanwhile a flood warning has been issued for Builth Wells itself.

Nigel Brinn, corporate director of Economy and the Environment at Powys County Council warned on Twitter for people to avoid the A483.

"A483 between Builth and Llanelwedd currently closed due to the Wye overtopping," he tweeted. "Please avoid this route.

"We also have reported flooding in Penybont at Ithon Terrace.

"Powys Highways and emergency services responding.

"Take extra care if travelling on our network."

Meanwhile the Powys Teaching Health Board said their vaccination centres were remaining open, but urged people be careful when visiting.

A post on social media read: "Our mass vaccination centres in Bronllys and Newtown are open today, but please travel safely.

"Contact the booking hub if you are unable to attend due to travel disruption."
