AROUND a quarter of the Powys population has so far been vaccinated against Covid-19, the county’s health board has announced.

Powys Teaching Health Board revealed via it’s daily update on Monday (February 8) that more than 33,000 Powys residents have already been vaccinated through the health board’s Covid-19 vaccination programme.

With a 2019 census putting the county’s population at 132,093, that’s just shy of 25 per cent of people in Powys.

Adrian Osborne, PTHB’s assistant communications director, tweeted on Sunday: “33,000 people have received their first dose Covid-19 vaccination through our @PTHBhealth vaccination programme.

“Well done and thank you to everyone involved.”

PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) Wellbeing added: “Well done #TeamPowys 33,000 vaccines now delivered thanks to great cross sector team effort.”

The health board’s priority remains vaccinating people in the Priority Groups 1-4 by mid-February.

If you are aged 80+ and registered with a GP in Powys, and you have not yet received your invitation then PTHB are advising residents to complete their online form to let them know.

“If you are aged 70-79 and registered with a GP in Powys, and you have not yet received your invitation for Covid-19 vaccination, then please complete our reserve list form,” they say on their website.

“If you are in one of the categories designated as "clinically extremely vulnerable" and registered with a GP in Powys, and you have not yet received your invitation for Covid-19 vaccination, then please complete our reserve list form.

“If you are a frontline health and care worker providing intimate care for people in Powys in the vulnerable categories, and you have not yet booked your first dose appointment, please complete our online form for frontline health and care workers”

After groups 1-4 the next in line is Priority Group 5: people aged 65-69
