A primary school in Welshpool will be closed to all pupils tomorrow (Thursday, February 4) due to ongoing problems with its telephones.

Welshpool Church in Wales School said the decision "has not been taken lightly" but hope that the building will be able to reopen on Friday.

Pupils will not be able to do live check-ins, however remote learning will continue through Google Classrooms.

A statement on the school's Facebook page said: "Regretfully, we will have to close the school from tomorrow (Thursday 4th) until further notice as the phones are still not working.

"The decision has not been taken lightly, and is with the agreement of the governing body and the local authority.

"Remote learning will continue via Google Classrooms, but the live check-ins will not be able to take place.

"We hope that we will be able to reopen as soon as possible, and we will keep you informed via Facebook, email and text.

"We are expecting an engineer tomorrow, and if the issue is resolved, we may be able to reopen on Friday 5th February. We apologise for the inconvenience."
