A 15-acre woodland could be planted near the Newtown bypass to help reduce air and noise pollution.
Mr Evans, of Ffrydd Vaughan intends to plant native species at his farm near the Dolfor Road roundabout.
Plans for the proposed woodland will be discussed by councillors on the Economy and Environment Committee at Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on Monday, February 1.
Mr Evans wishes to take advantage of the Welsh Government’s Glastir Woodland Creation Scheme to help fund this work.
The new woodlands will bring multiple benefits to the residents of Newtown, said woodland planner Peter Jackson.
He said it will sequester carbon, help mitigate flooding on the Riven Severn, help reduce air and noise pollution from the new bypass, and extend the small core of ancient natural semi- woodland along the stream.
