Coronavirus rates across Wales have fallen – with only one of the 22 counties in the country recording a rise.

Powys' latest rate of infection per 100,000 residents now stands at 189.5, based on the seven days to January 17 – down from 199.3 per 100,000 the week before.

The only area where the rate has risen is Gwynedd, where it is up from 171.0 to 203.9, with 254 new cases.

Wrexham has the highest rate in Wales, with 896 new cases recorded in the seven days to January 17 – the equivalent of 659.0 cases per 100,000 people.

This is down from 870.1 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to January 10.

The figures have been calculated by the PA news agency and are based on data published on the Public Health Wales Covid-19 surveillance dashboard on January 21.

Data for the four days from January 18-21 has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
