A small earthquake was recorded near Welshpool on Friday morning.
The British Geological Survey said a magnitude 1.4 earthquake happened at around 7.05am.
It occurred 9km below the surface of the Big Pool near Fronllwyd on the outskirts of Welshpool.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are almost too faint to be felt.
The last time a "significant" earthquake hit the area was in April 1990 when Bishop's Castle recorded a magnitude of 5.1.
