Newtown resident Lisa Pratten has won a bike giveaway competition by Bike To The Future.
Workshop manager Tom Chandler said: “People very generously donate their unused bicycles. We then repair, clean and make them ready to pass on at very affordable prices to new owners.
“To mark the start of the new year, we thought it would be nice to reflect this generosity by giving one away as nominated by our followers on social media.”
The Newtown-based charity runs a community bicycle workshop and has been at Pen Dinas, next to the college, since 2018.
It aims not only to support people to gain workplace skills and promote bicycle use, but also to provide bike servicing and sales, including ebikes and accessories to keep local cyclists happy.
Tom added that they are always looking for more donations.
Most of the donated bikes are repaired, mostly by volunteers who are supported to gain work and life skills. The rest of the bikes are stripped down for spares and recycling.
The Bike to the Future workshop is open from 9am to 4pm on Tuesday to Friday. For more information, call Tom on 07720 218 499.
