When the streets were normally bustling with shoppers on Market Day, Newtown was looking eerily quiet during the third lockdown of the ongoing pandemic.
Pictures taken on Tuesday (January 19) capture the town centre's near-deserted streets as pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops remain closed.
It has been more than four weeks since the Welsh Government announced the strict lockdown across the country to contain the spread of a new variant of coronavirus.
Powys County Councillor for Newtown East Joy Jones said Powys' largest town needs to survive beyond the lockdown.
"Businesses are very anxious at the moment because they are worried about their futures," she said. "It's causing a great deal of concern."
"They were just opening up and then they were told to close down again.
"Some of them are doing click and collect and doing their best to keep their businesses running. I think they are doing an amazing job trying to cope with all the obstacles being thrown in their way.
"We're the biggest town in Powys and it is very important that people support all our local businesses. We need to behind them 100 per cent."
